Remo D’Souza’s film starring Varun Dhawan has an unmistakable Govinda connect. Yes, it does and it is right in the title of the film. We have just learnt that the title of their dance film – which was tentatively titled ABC3D – is going to be Street Dancer. The title comes from the lyrics of a very popular song I am a street dancer from Govinda’s film Ilzaam. Interestingly, the song and Govinda’s dance became instant hits with his fans all over. The 1985 film was directed by Shibu Mitra and produced by Pahlaj Nihalani. The ABCD franchise belongs to Disney and getting the title from them probably could’ve been the reason for the change of the title. There were reports about the title change to ABC3D which did not work out for the makers of the film and so they opted for a title that clearly spelt dance.

The film has continued to be in news for quite some time now. First with reports about the title changes and then the lead actress Katrina Kaif walking out of the project citing date issues. The actress issued a statement stating her reasons. Her spokesperson had said, “Katrina Kaif had to opt out of Remo’s upcoming dance film owing to her hectic schedule for Bharat. Katrina has always been a thorough professional. She decided to step out of the film as her dates were clashing with Bharat, which she is currently shooting for. She wishes the team all the best.”

Remo’s film will go on floor after Varun completes Kalank which is in its last lap of shooting. The film will be shot in India and United Kingdom and will also have Remo’s team members like Raaghav Juyal, Neeti Mohan and Dance Plus contestants.
