Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh is one of the most-interesting movies this year. And ever since it hit the screens on June 21, the film has been unstoppable. After a fantastic opening, it set the box office on fire and raked in a whopping amount to end the first weekend on a high. In fact, it has beaten the likes of Salman Khan’s Bharat and Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De on Sunday too. Now that’s huge numbers, especially with Kabir Singh being an ‘Adults only’ movie.

For those of you who don’t know, Kabir Singh opened with a collection of Rs 20.21 crore on day 1. On day 2, it grew and raked in Rs 22.71 crore. But it was day 3, which saw the maximum growth. Kabir Singh saw housefull shows in major cinemas across India and collected Rs 27.91 crore. With that, it now has Rs 70.83 crore in its kitty at the end of the opening weekend, which is massive! Considering that the film had a decent buzz and only 3,100 screens to its disposal, Kabir Singh has performed beyond expectations.

Trade had predicted that Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s film would rake in Rs 30 – 50 crore in the first weekend. And even though some scathing comments and reviews were put out about Kabir Singh, the film has performed phenomenally well. It has been possible because of a fantastic word-of-mouth publicity and the fact that Kabir Singh is a well-made film with great performances. What did you think about the movie?
