Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria’s Student of the Year 2 has finally released today, May 10. The movie, which is a sequel to the 2012 hit Student of the Year, has released in 2500 screens across India. With such a huge screen count, expectations are obviously high from SOTY 2. And looks like it has started off well! In fact, from what we hear, it took a decent start, registering 40 – 50 percent occupancy in the morning shows. This is really good for a film which had just a decent amount of buzz. Our trade expert – Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor) expects the film to grow and earn Rs 10 crore on day 1. Impressive, isn’t it?
Talking about the movie, Akshaye reveals to us exclusively, “Student of the Year 2 has started well. It has registered a decent opening occupancy, 20 per cent in some place and 70 per cent in others. Some small towns that you might not have even heard of, has recorded 30 – 40 per cent occupancy. All of this is down to Tiger Shroff’s popularity with the masses and kids. Tara and Ananya have also impressed them. The start has been good and I expect it to grow. Looking at the trends, it should earn about Rs 10 crore on day 1.”
