Today (July 22) it was reported that Bollywood actress Koena Mitra has been sentenced to six months imprisonment for a cheque bouncing case. According to media reports, the actress was sentenced by Mumbai’s magistrate’s court earlier in July after model, Poonam Sethi, filed the case against her in 2013.

As the news surfaced online, we contacted the actress to get some more details about the case. She revealed that the case is in a higher court and she will get more clarity on the case by next week. The actress also said that she will talk to our team on Monday about the progress of the case.

For the uninitiated, Poonam Sethi had reportedly filed a complaint when Koena Mitra, who had borrowed Rs 22 lakh from her, failed to return the money. If reports are to be believed, Poonam did receive a cheque of Rs 3 lakh during the repayment of the loan from Koena. However, the cheque bounced. Poonam then sent a legal notice to Koena and after no repayment, she filed a complaint. Koena has completely denied the report and said that she is being framed in this case. Stay tuned to CineBlitz for more such news and updates.
