Actors, these days, are not just experimenting with their looks but also opting for challenging roles. The reason, according to Rahul Sharma, is that with so many opportunities opening up in TV, film and web, more and more artistes are daring to experiment.

“But the primary thing is that it becomes monotonous when have the same look and been doing a particular role for years now. You also want audience to see a different side, you want to give them variety. Now many are ready to step beyond their comfort zone as the audience have also become very receptive. I also try to change my looks… like I have never kept beard in any of my show for the past 6-7 years. Now I am growing my beard and also planning to sport long hair. Let’s see how that works out for me and my audience,” says the actor, known for TV show such as Kaal Bhairav Rahasya, Ek Rishta Aisa Bhi and Pyaar Ki Luka Chuppi.

Ask about his most challenging role so far and Sharma replies that every role has put him through a different kind of experience. “With whatever opportunity I have got, I’m always trying to break boundaries. So every role has been challenging for me. But if I still have to pick then I will say my character of Bhushan in Hello Ji. It was a realistic character having many shades. Kaal Bhairav was a difficult role too both physically and mentally. It will always remain as one of the most special characters in my career,” he adds.

Looking back at his journey so far, Sharma is happy with how things have shaped up. And he is ready to do more. He is happy with the fame but does not to let that get into his head.

“Fame has both positive and negative side to it. If you are famous then, people want to be with you, they want to know more. And it becomes difficult to have a private life. I’m a private person and have been quite guarded about what I am doing when not working. At the same time, there’s so much love you get from the audience that it feels like a blessing,” he says.
