New updates have emerged from the Alok Nath and Vinita Nanda sexual harassment case, which was one of the most prominent and shocking Me Too cases in Bollywood. Since Alok Nath refused to meet the POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace) committee over the rape allegations made by Vinita Nanda, FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) has now decided to take things in their own hands against the veteran actor for his misconduct. Despite the many summonses issued, the actor failed to abide by the same. Finally, FWICE has decided to issue a non-cooperative directive against the actor.

During the Tanushree Dutta MeToo allegations, other women too came out with their own stories and left everyone shaken from within. Producer Vinita Nanda came out and shocked everyone by accusing long-time friend Alok Nath of rape. Vinita Nanda took to social media and shared stories of Alok Nath’s behaviour on the sets of her mega-hit show Tara. Nanda spoke about how she was sexually assaulted by the actor one night. Nanda then filed a police complaint against the actor. The Internal Complaints Committee of IFTDA (Indian Film and Television Director’s Association) sprang into action intervening in the case and reasserting POSH guidelines.

Post the complaint lodged by Nanda, Alok Nath was summoned on several occasions by the internal POSH committee that is made up of legal and film industry experts including FWICE member Ashok Dubey, social activist Nandini Sarkar and also the President, Ashoke Pandit. The right way of doing this is to summon both parties, listen to their sides of the story, investigate further and come to a fair judgement. But Nath didn’t make it to any of those meeting forcing FWICE and IFTDA to take further action. IFTDA President Ashoke Pandit has now stated that Alok Nath has challenged them by not responding to their summons. He also mentioned that Alok Nath has refused to adhere to the guidelines of providing a safer workplace environment for women. FWICE with POSH committee have joined hands and have taken strict action and issued a 6-month non-cooperation directive to Alok Nath. Pandit also added that all such allegations will be looked into with utmost seriousness as they have taken a pledge to implement a zero-tolerance policy.
