Ananya Birla- Maroon 5

While there are many singers and music artists over Youtube channel, it serves as a platform for many new talents. Ananya Birla, daughter of Kumar Mangalam Birla (owner of Aditya Birla Group) has been steadily building her own brand as an artist in the music industry with several originals already released. Yesterday (April 12th) she released her latest video titled Unstoppable, whose title pretty much explains the whole vibe and meaning of the song. But interestingly, the video for the song includes the entrance of several powerful and famous Indian women. It kind of reminds us a lot of a song with a similar concept, that a little band called Maroon 5 released recently. If you haven’t heard it, it’s called Girls Like You. And Unstoppable seems to be quite the Desi replica of it.

The video starts off with a graffiti wall which reads, “Too young” and “Just a rich kid”, inferring to be a direct message to all her haters, who’ve been persistent in bringing up her “spoilt brat” beginnings. Through the course of the video, 13 other influential women from various fields made their appearance including Anusha Dandekar, Juhi Chawla, Kanika Kapoor, Mary Kom, Neerja Birla, Pooja Hegde, Sania Mirza, Sukriti Kakar and few more. However, it seems quite evident that the concept was most likely inspired by Maroon 5’s immensely popular Girls Like You, in which the video also features several influential and powerful women over different industries as a tribute to women empowerment. Though Maroon 5’s song itself veers more toward the romantic side while Birla’s is more like a female-empowerment themed song, the music videos are almost identical conceptually. The reviews from fans for Unstoppable, seem to relay the same theory as well. Watch the video here:

Ananya released her first music video in 2016 and in addition to her budding music career, she runs her own organization, Svatantra Microfin, dedicated to providing small loans to women entrepreneurs in rural areas. Views for the Unstoppable video have already run into the lakhs and climbing, so let us know your views about the song below in the comments section and for more such updates on Bollywood stay tuned to CineBlitz.
