IMDb is hosting its first-ever exclusive portrait and video studio in India at the Jio 2023 MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, expanding their on-the-ground presence at leading festivals around the world. The studio aims to give fans a virtual front-row seat to all the latest news, titles and stars at MAMI.

At the IMDb Portrait Studio, Bhumi Pednekar spoke with IMDb for their exclusive segment Burning Questions, sharing some anecdotes about what inspires her at the current stage of her career and which character of hers does she resonate with the most, amongst other candid revelations.

Bhumi Pednekar revealed what inspires her at this stage of her career, she said, “Reinventing myself with every film that I’m in.”

On the character that resonates with her the most, Bhumi said, “It has to be Kanika Kapoor from Thank You For Coming. She’s the closest to me in the way she thinks, the life she is living and what she’s trying to achieve. Her whole coming of age is what I identify with.”

Mentioning a recent performance that blew her mind, Bhumi said, “Alia Bhatt in Gangubai Kathiawadi. I was completely blown away by what she’d done.”

On her inspiration from the Indian film industry, Bhumi mentioned, “I think it would be Meena Kumari because I just want to know how it was being a female actor in the times she was in. She was such a phenomenal performer. From whatever I’ve understood, her life was full of ups and downs and just so beautiful. I really want to know what that tragic, beautiful life was made up of”.

Speaking of who she would love to work with, Bhumi mentioned, “I really want to work with Mr Shah Rukh Khan and the world knows why.”
