Breaking news: Vidya Balan makes her Tamil debut with Boney Kapoor’s remake of Pink

After working in Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali, Telugu and Marathi film industries, Vidya Balan is now set to make her debut in a Tamil film. CineBlitz has exclusively learnt that the actress has signed on Boney Kapoor’s Tamil film, the shooting for which has already begun in Ramoji, Hyderabad. The film being produced by Boney is a remake of Shoojit Sircar’s Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury-directed Pink (2016) that starred Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan. Boney’s film is being directed by H Vinoth, who had earlier directed the hit South film Theeran.

A member of the production house tells CineBlitz exclusively, “Vidya Balan has been signed on by Boney Kapoor for his Tamil film. The shooting has started in Ramoji in Hyderabad.” This is the first film that will see Vidya Balan collaborating with the producer. The film’s first schedule has already begun and the shooting is currently underway. The film is said to be a remake of the Hindi film Pink. South star Ajith and Shraddha Srinath (who is making her Bollywood debut in Milan Talkies) are also a part of the film.

Vidya Balan had most recently starred in Krish’s two-part series of the Telugu biopic titled NTR Kathanaykudu and NTR Mahanayakudu that was based on the life of South leader NT Rama Rao. As for Bollywood, Vidya will soon be seen in Mission Mangal with Taapsee Pannu. Vidya’s last outing in Bollywood was Tumhari Sulluthat earned her rave reviews. The actress is said to be thrilled with the kind of roles coming her way not only in Hindi films but from the South industry as well.
