Dabangg 3: Did you know? Salman Khan wasn’t the first choice to play Chulbul Pandey

One of Salman Khan’s celebrated on-screen characters is Chulbul Pandey from the Dabangg franchise.  And while the superstar is gearing up to bring to you this larger than life character once again with Dabangg 3, we found out an interesting anecdote about his character. What if we tell you that Salman wasn’t the first choice to play Chulbul Pandey? Well, not us but producer and Salman’s brother Arbaaz Khan has revealed this.

While talking to a leading daily Arbaaz spoke about how Salman wasn’t the first choice and came on board later. He said, “When Abhinav narrated the script to me, I asked him why he wasn’t offering me the role of the Robin Hood cop. But more than Chulbul, he saw me as Makkhi, which was an extension of my role inJaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. He was looking to cast Randeep Hooda or Irrfan Khan as the lead then but neither of them had been finalised. I offered to produce the film for him and asked him what if we got Salman on board as Pandeyji. He was instantly excited and things quickly fell in place.”

Dabangg 3 is being shot in Phaltan right now and the team has finished schedules in Indore and Mumbai before this. The film will go back in time and show Chulbul’s journey from a local goon to a wise cop. For more updates and gossip, stay tuned to CineBlitz.
