Game Of Thrones Season 8: Jon Snow to sit on the Iron Throne, say Indian fans

The final season of arguably one of the most influential and beloved shows on television has finally released. And fans from around the world have already prepped themselves for the potential conclusion of the show. Yes, we are talking about Game of Thrones season 8 which premiered on April 14. Ever since the season 7 finale, GOT fandom has saturated the internet with conspiracy theories and ideas well before season 8 was even announced. However, the first episode of the final season has not only killed a lot of theories but has also replaced them with the onset of at least a thousand more! But in all of this, what do our very own Mumbaikars have to say? Well, we went to a cozy cafe in Bandra that was screening the season 8 premiere for die-hard GOT fans and we decided to ask some of them what they thought about the final season.

A resounding and recurring opinion was that of their allegiance to Jon Snow over Daenerys Targaryen, and according to them, here’s why:

“I feel like it has to be Jon Snow! He’s very sympathetic and empathetic so he can’t be harsh when he needs to be.” When asked why not Khaleesi? They said, “But Dany can sometimes cross the line, so she might end up like her brother or her dad.”

“Dany is too harsh and prideful. I’m all about strong women but I don’t know. I just feel like she gets a bit morally superior. Like what she’s kind of doing is still sort of enslavement, it’s like ‘follow and serve me or else I’ll kill you’ so how is that different from slavery, you know.”

Though they felt that Jon was spineless and too kind, everyone still felt he would make a better leader. They said, “He has courage but he doesn’t have the balls to take what’s his (laughs). He is still a more noble and just leader who would truly bring change in the system and throughout the kingdom. Jon got everyone’s support without doing any of that because they liked him and loved him and made him king of the North without him having to subjugate them to slavery.  She (Dany) literally gave them (Randyll Tarly and POWs) an ultimatum…. It’s literally ‘serve me or I’ll kill you’ and that’s not freedom.”
