There is a collective sense of excitement surrounding the release of the Ranveer Singh – Alia Bhatt’s Gully Boy. While the industry and movie-goers can’t wait to see the film tomorrow (February 14), looks like the same excitement is shared in Pakistan too. Buzz is that the Pakistani audience is quite upbeat about the release of the Zoya Akhtar directorial. Yes, the film is hitting the cinema screens in Pakistan on February 14, the same day as in India. And the film in all likelihood will translate into good business, given the positive buzz.

The audience apart, it is the trade in Pakistan which is hopeful. A source says, “The business of Bollywood films had slowed down at the box office in Pakistan. But with Gully Boy it is surely going to bounce back.” However, it’s not without the Censor Board issues. Like India, the Censor Board of Pakistan also had issues with a kissing scene. As the source added, “The long kissing scene between Alia and Ranveer may be deleted in Pakistan.” Talking about the actors’ popularity there, the source mentions that both the stars have become quite popular in Pakistan. “They are both extremely popular and have a huge fan base here,” added the source.

In fact, Ranveer’s last film Simmba had done a business of over 15 crore in Pakistan, informs the source. The development is good news for the makers here and the distributors there. It’s not often that a non-Khan-starrer (Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan) gets in those high numbers at the box office. So, naturally the trade is excited about this film to see if Ranveer can crack the markets there again. Going by the buzz, looks like Ranveer may just rap through to the top there too.
