IMDb hosted its first-ever exclusive portrait and video studio in India at the Jio 2023 MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, expanding its on-the-ground presence at leading festivals worldwide. The studio aimed to give fans a virtual front-row seat to all the latest news, titles and stars at MAMI.

At the Portrait Studio, Shriya Pilgaonkar answered some of IMDb’s ‘Burning Questions’. Speaking about what inspires her at this stage of her career, Shriya mentioned, “As an actor, I’m at a stage where I am really kicked about exploring my versatility. Last year, I had the opportunity to play a lawyer in Guilty Minds, a news reporter in The Broken News, and a sex worker in Taaza Khabar. So I feel like I constantly want to surprise myself and the audience with what I’m capable of.”

Talking about her performance which she finds the most underrated, she said “I would say Madhu from Taaza Khabar. I feel like it was a very different portrayal of a sex worker and written so beautifully.”

Speaking of the on-screen character that she resonates with the most, Shriya revealed, “Kashaf was a character that was vulnerable and strong. She was fierce in the court and outside as well. She was just a completely different person. So I love that it was written in a multidimensional way and it’s a character that’s very personal to me, even as an actor in my journey.”

On being asked what she has learned about herself this year that surprised her, Shriya said, ‘I work best when I’m not in my comfort zone. I think I’ve really enjoyed stepping out of my comfort zone this year.”
