Karan Mehta: “The whole experience of ‘Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat’ is now a core memory for life!”

Karan Mehta made a smashing debut with Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat’ released in February this year and now the critically acclaimed film is set to premiere on Netflix in March this year. Karan’s debut film that premiered at the prestigious Marrakech International Film Festival in Morocco, also received huge appreciation from the industry, audience and critics alike.

Karan Mehta says, “I’m thrilled beyond words and super excited about my film ‘Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat’ (APWDM) premiering on Netflix as it’s a worldwide platform and it’ll be accessible to everyone around the world and honestly what more could I ask for? It’s a dream come true, and I couldn’t be happier.”

“I had the most fun learning experience working with Anurag Sir and Alaya on the sets of ‘APWDM’. I don’t think I would have wanted it any other way. I got to learn so much from Anurag Sir, he knows exactly what he’s doing, his way of working is completely different so even if it doesn’t make sense at first, by the end when the result comes out, it all falls into the correct place, and only he can do that. I’ve known Alaya for a long time, so she made me feel very comfortable, and as it was my debut film, she helped me a lot throughout, and we had our own fun banter going on. The whole experience is now a core memory for life,” adds Karan.

Born in Germany, actor Karan Mehta moved to India and started his career by making short films. Karan has worked and assisted on film sets such as Raees, Lust Stories and many more. It was Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah Kashyap who saw Karan’s short films on You Tube and informed the filmmaker about the same who later narrated the story of Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat (APWDM) to Karan and made him prepare for his debut film by undergoing workshops and training sessions.

Apart from films, Karan is a bit of a sport enthusiast and has taken part in all sorts of sports for school competition such as cricket, football, table tennis, etc.
