COVID 19 pandemic has shaken up the entire planet and while most countries battle with the virus, economies have taken a massive hit. However, in this unprecedented situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted how as a country, India should consider it an opportunity to focus on manufacturing goods within the country and start patronizing local brands and help those go Global.

Interestingly, Ashok Choudhary’s production Waah Zindagi, also echoes the philosophy of Swadeshi and Make in India, two pillars of PM’s visions for India. The film is based on the story of a man who aims to redeem his past which leads him on his journey of manufacturing goods in India, faces stiff competition from Chinese products and battles all odds.  The film is directed by FTII alumnus, Dinesh S Yadav and features Sanjay Mishra, Vijay Raaz, Manoj Joshi, Naveen Kasturia and Plabita Borthakur in lead role.

Apart from Waah Zindagi, Ashok Choudhary and Dinesh S Yadav were also the team behind National Award-winning film Turtle, which was based on water scarcity is drought-hit Rajasthan, film even finds a mention Competition Exam /School Books in the state.

Speaking on why Waah Zindagi is extremely relevant in today’s time, and his plans of releasing the film, Ashok Choudhary said, “With Waah Zindagi, our purpose was to tell an entertaining yet purposeful story that evokes the need and relevance for Swadeshi in India. For the past few years, we weren’t even realizing how we were dumping our own people, our industries for cheaper replacements from China. So much so that a few people told us that the mainstream audience may not relate to this subject. We feel proud today that the whole country is awakening to the feeling that Swadeshi is not just mainstream, but a Life Stream for us Indians now. With the Prime Minister’s addressal, we hope that people start embracing this philosophy as their Art of Living rather than a temporary arrangement and our film helps to reinforce that feeling in them each time they watch it.” The producers of the film were aiming a theatrical release, but with the prevailing situation, they are open to OTT options as well.
