AKASA and Raftaar unleash the drama – Naiyyo OUT NOW!

Pop queen, AKASA and iconic rapper, Raftaar drop their first ever music collab today – Naiyyo! Over the last week, netizens got a sneak-peek into what the song has in store for them. Kusha Kapila announced the song with a hilarious “single friends” post on her Instagram page and the excitement has been soaring.

Directed by Vishal Handa, the music video of the song is a light-hearted take on millennial romance and relationship drama. The track outlines the break-up and patch-up between a #dramebaaz AKASA and her unsuspecting boyfriend essayed by TV actor, Shivam Bhaargava. Interestingly, Raftaar enters the song’s narrative as a love guru, who comes to their rescue. Gen Z will find the exchange between the reel couple super relatable!

Much to the delight of the listeners, both the artistes have fused two genres – pop and hip-hop, a blend that is a sure favourite of music buffs across the world. One other special thing about it is that the multitalented singer AKASA has also composed the song and penned its lyrics. Known as certified hitmakers, both AKASA and Raftaar are excited about the reaction to the song.

AKASA says, “I wrote Naiyyo in January 2019. The vibe was that of a girl making a drunk call to her ex to complain and throw a tantrum. Once I wrote both its verses, my team at Sony Music India and I realised that there was something missing. That’s when Raftaar came to our minds. I have always wanted to collaborate with the man because he’s just so immensely multitalented and the best at his art. I have a very special attachment to this song because I believe it was and will be a confirmation from me to myself that I can be more than a singer.”

Says Raftaar, “It is a light-hearted quirky song about everyday quarrels between a couple presented with a lot of pop visuals and over-the-top drama. In modern-day relationships, a lot of needs and issues remain unsaid and couples don’t freely express what they really want during fights and keep their emotions bottled up. I love being a part of new things and this felt really new.”

Naiyyo is the latest song about break-ups and making up with some high octane relationship drama that youngsters will relate to. Produced by Redmojo, and released by Sony Music India, AKASA and Raftaar’s song is out now on all audio & video platforms.
