BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN

Hey ya, Bruce Springsteen fans, rejoice! The singer is back in the field with his new album after five long years. This time, he has experimented and taken his music to new heights, as he draws inspiration from Southern California pop records from the late ’60s and ’70s. Titled Western Stars, the album was recorded at Springsteen’s home studio in New Jersey, with additional recordings in California and New York.

Talking about his album he says, “This record is a return to my solo recordings featuring character-driven songs and sweeping cinematic orchestral arrangements. It’s a jewel box of a record.” The album features 13 tracks that will encompass a wide range of American themes, from highways and desert spaces to isolation and community, and the permanence of home and hope.

Ron Aniello is said to have produced the album with Springsteen and plays bass, keyboard, and other instruments. Patti Scialfa provides backing vocals and also contributes vocal arrangements for four tracks. The musical arrangements include strings, horns, pedal steel and contributions from more than 20 other players, including Jon Brion (who plays Celeste, Moog and Farfisa). We will also see special guest appearances by David Sancious, Charlie Giordano and Soozie Tyrell. The album was mixed by 13-time Grammy winner, Tom Elmhirst. Columbia Records will release Springsteen’s 19th studio album on June 14. The album will be available for pre-order on Friday, April 26 (today).
