Khuda Haafiz packs a larger-than-life thriller for the digital screens

The much-awaited movie premieres on Disney+ Hotstar on 14th August 2020

Panorama Studios International is all set to bring to viewers, director-writer Faruk Kabir’s Khuda Haafiz, that stars Vidyut Jammwal as a common man on a mission to trace his wife essayed by Shivaleeka Oberoi, who’s gone missing in another country. The trailer of the upcoming film that dropped last week has received tremendously positive reactions by fans across the country. What became clear with the release of its trailer is that the Faruk Kabir directorial has been created on an international scale.

The forthcoming Panorama Studios production is a first-of-its-kind big-budget thriller that touches an emotional chord. Shot in the sub-zero temperatures in Uzbekistan over the span of 48 days, Khuda Haafiz has a distinct cinematic appeal with scenic shots of large vistas, bazaars, beautiful structures and expanses of the country. Moreover, Kabir reveals that the film was shot using anamorphic lenses; only two sets of anamorphic lenses are in Bombay, so they are quite rare and treasured.

Interestingly, the plot of the film was inspired by an article that Faruk chanced upon. The story kept resonating with him and that’s when he started researching it; he got in touch with a few investigative journalists and some people who had been part of such incidents. Faruk’s brainchild – the script of the movie was the fruit of three odd months of digging and probing, followed by nine-and-a-half months of writing the screenplay.

Vidyut Jammwal says, “Working with Faruk was one of the highlights of my career. He has an incredible eye for cinema and I’m honoured that he trusted me with his vision. I was required to shed the action hero aura and unlearn years of martial arts training for the role. I had no qualms about it whatsoever because I had full faith in my director and my fans who have been very embracive of me.”

Director-writer Faruk Kabir says, “I have immense gratitude for the way Khuda Haafiz has turned out and the anticipation that it has garnered. I think Vidyut and the film will turn out to be quite a revelation and having the viewers watch the film in their own space will make it an intimate and personal experience for them. My producers and actors have backed me to the hilt and now I’m looking forward to the audience embracing this love story.”

Producer,Director-Panorama Studios International, Abhishek Pathak says, “It makes us (at Panorama Studios) very happy to have powered Faruk’s vision and to have offered it the canvas that it deserves. It is our endeavour to push the envelope on the content front and with Khuda Haafiz, we are doing just that.”

Produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak (Panorama Studios International),  written and directed by Faruk Kabir, featuring Vidyut Jammwal, Shivaleeka Oberoi, Annu Kapoor,  Aahana Kumra and Shiv Panditt and with music by Mithoon (Zee Music), Khuda Haafiz (a romantic action thriller, inspired by real-events) will be streaming on Disney+Hotstar VIP on the 14th of August 2020.

This weekend, the show will extend a warm welcome to actors Rajkummar Rao, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Nora Fatehi as the guests. Nushrratt and Rajkummar, who will share interesting anecdotes about their journey, were thoroughly enthralled with all the contestants’ performances. Both the actors raised the bar a notch higher by dancing with the contestants wholeheartedly!

After contestant Mahammad Akib’s and choreographer Paul’s act on the song ‘Mujhe Chod Do Mere Haal Pe’ which shed light on the concept of deforestation, Rajkummar Rao appreciated Akib’s performance and further spilled the beans on his struggles and challenges before he carved a niche for himself in the industry. However, the viewers may be unaware of his tryst with dancing. While everyone knows that Rajkummar is a swell actor, not many know about his passion for dancing and that he is a fantastic dancer as well. That’s when Contestant Shweta Warrier requested the actor to do an impromptu jig with all the female contestants, on the song ‘Milegi Milegi’. The actor agreed and joined everyone on stage. The judges were impressed with his moves and appreciated his dance skills.

Moreover, not many know that Rajkummar had in fact auditioned for Sony TV’s popular show Boogie Woogie. However, he was rejected in the audition phase. Rajkummar said, “Many years ago, when I was in class 11, I had come to Mumbai to audition for Boogie Woogie with my younger brother. But, I got rejected back then. It feels great to be here today, and witness such amazing performances. It was nice of the judges to give me 30 points for my performance with the contestants here.”

Malaika Arora said, “Raj is a closet dancer, but not many know that he is a fabulous dancer and I was fortunate to dance with him in a film. We did a song in the movie ‘Dolly ki Doli’, we came on the set and were rehearsing, Raj was around and all quiet. But the moment the song started playing, he went all out with his dance.” Listening to the conversation, Nushrratt further added, “You should watch him at parties, if you play 90s Bollywood music, he dances really well to these songs.” Later, Malaika Arora also shook a leg with Rajkummar on the track ‘Nazar na lag jaaye’.

Actor Himansh Kohli is in a happy place right now. Not only did he and his family emerge victorious against the COVID-19 battle, but he has also gifted himself an early birthday (3rd November)  gift. The actor is now a happy owner of the sports car Porsche.

Talking about buying this car ahead of his birthday, Himansh says, “My birthday is approaching, and 2020 so far has been a dull year for everybody, so I thought of cheering myself up and giving this gift from me to me. Getting a sports car, a mean machine like Porsche has always been on my bucket list, and it took a considerable amount of time to attain it. But, I’m happy the day finally came when I can drive around in my sports car.”

The actor, who has worked in various music videos and films, has been planning to buy a new car for a long time. “I had been thinking about getting a new car, especially after two of my brand new SUVs were stolen one after another from outside the house in Delhi. The first one was stolen in 2015, and the second thievery happened in 2019, within 3-4 months of purchase. It’s like my bad fortune turned up after a few moments of good luck,” he says.

Himansh’s Porsche stands apart with its unique blue colour. Any reason behind that? “I believe I have an eternal connection with this striking color. Most of my wardrobe, personal belongings, and even my favorite song (Aaj Blue Hai Pani Pani) are blue,” he says.

Calling himself a simple person, he has already listed down the qualities he wants in his dream car. “I’m a simple person with an exquisite taste, so if you’re talking about my dream car, it needs to have an amazing coffee machine, space for my pet(s), and a mind-blowing sound system apart from all the regular features that cars have. I do consider things like torque, ground clearance, boot space,” Himansh shares.

Bhumi Pednekar is a self-made star who has catapulted herself to stardom through her body of work. Bhumi won hearts with her last release Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitaare and she will now be seen in Durgavati, a project she is supremely excited about. For Bhumi, this is the first film that she is headlining in her career and she is extremely grateful for the opportunity. Durgavati is being produced by Akshay Kumar, her co-star from the blockbuster Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.

“It is the first time that I am helming a film alone and it is exciting as well as nerve-wrecking. There is a lot of responsibility on me. I have been very fortunate as an artiste and I’m proud of my journey in cinema so far. So, I’m grateful for this opportunity. I have always had a co-star to share the responsibility with, now I am helming this film. I am really excited to see how people react to this. I have never looked like this, people have never seen me in this avatar,” informs Bhumi.

Bhumi is taking the hit franchise of Badhaai Ho forward as she is set to start shooting Badhaai Do. The first film of the franchise featured Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana and he delivered a blockbuster. Ayushmann was also voted as one of the most influential people in the world by TIME magazine and Bhumi has had a hattrick of hits like Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Bala with her favorite co-star.

Bhumi says, “He was my first hero and out of the 8 films I have done in 4 years, three have been with him! He is a very dear friend and I am very fond of him. I feel very happy when I see he has reached and he really deserves it because he has had such a long journey. I think the forte that Ayushmann and I have is a certain kind of cinema that we both kind of create when we get together.

She adds, “The three films that we have done have really been true to their genre. I feel very lucky because we have created a space with each other that is very rare. I love collaborating with him, we are very likeminded, our value system is very similar. Till date it has been a 100% success rate and I really hope that it stays like that like in the future as well.”

Bhumi says she is extremely satisfied doing the meaningful cinema that she has been a part of. “I feel very fortunate that I’ve never been on a film set and felt like why am I here? I don’t want to be unhappy doing the work that I do and touch wood that has never happened. I have never been a part of the film where I felt it’s not correct,” says the versatile actress whose box office streak has made her a producer’s favourite.

“I feel as an actor my profession comes with a certain responsibility especially in the times that we are living in. There is a lot that needs to change and if I can use my craft, my voice, the medium that I have been given by God to bring about a positive change around me; I will be a very lucky person. So, that’s why I have to consciously make a choice that yes the priority is to entertain audiences but I always make sure that I leave them with more than a couple of laughs,” says Bhumi.
