Mr. India: Boney Kapoor reveals the reason for making the reboot version

Boney Kapoor’s production Mr India clocked 32 years on May 25 this year (2019). The much-loved film starred Boney’s late wife and superstar Sridevi and Anil Kapoor. It garnered much praise and adulation and continues to be a favourite of many. Recently, Boney clarified that he wants to create a reboot version of the 1987 film.

In an interaction with a leading daily, Boney said, “The idea is to create a reboot first, and then, make a franchise of it. It needs to be made more contemporary. We have a basic structure in mind. We haven’t decided on a timeline yet, but intend to make it soon.” Talking about Mr India, he added, “We put up a large set near Versova beach. I was so happy with the costumes that I paid a bonus to the stylist. Amrish Puri as Mogambo was a masterstroke; he brought the character alive. Now, After Sri, I have even more reason to make the film.”
