The film industry is in shock with the sudden demise of veteran South actress-turned-director, Vijay Nirmala. She passed away at midnight after suffering a cardiac arrest at a hospital in Hyderabad. She was already undergoing treatment there since a few days and is survived by her son Vijay Naresh. She was also Mahesh Babu’s step mother, and was married to his father Krishna.
The actress entered the Tamil film industry at a very young age of seven and has more than 200 films to her credit. Not only did she act in the movies, but had also directed 44 movies in Telugu. She held her name in the Guinness Book of World Record as the female director to have made the most number of movies.
Vijaya and late actress Savitri were the only women to have directed legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan. She had also produced over 15 movies under her production banner Vijay Krishna Movies.
