Get ready for an exhilarating journey through India’s hidden past with the charismatic actor and host, Maniesh Paul, in the upcoming eight-part docuseries ‘History Hunter.’ This riveting series, set to premiere on November 20 on Discovery Channel and discovery+, promises to unearth extraordinary and forgotten facets of Indian history from every corner of the country.
The tales within the series are nothing short of captivating, ranging from the mysterious disappearance of a world-class Indian university that vanished from both maps and memories 1500 years ago to the mind-boggling engineering feat of lifting 80-tonne rock 200 feet high without any modern machinery.
In the premiere episode, ‘History Hunter’ turns the spotlight on the revered Saraswati River, a holy waterway mentioned in the Rigveda and Mahabharata, which once flowed alongside the Yamuna and Ganga. The episode, fueled by insights from experts and data from ISRO, unravels the ancient text’s description of Saraswati’s route, confirming the river’s existence.
Maniesh Paul, discussing the significance of River Saraswati in India’s history, remarked, “India is referred to as Sapt Sindhu, the land of seven rivers. Although the Vedic text mentions a river that doesn’t exist today, that river is Saraswati.” Delving deeper into the mystery, he added, “The Indus seal suggests a river with powerful waves, and in the Rigveda, there is a request for the Saraswati River to flow peacefully. Scientists discovered that this once mighty river, originating from glaciers, flowed for about 5,000 years until nearly 3,000 years ago, after which it mysteriously dried up.”
