Rohit Shetty’s ‘arresting’ ensemble cast of ‘Indian Police Force’ with ‘shero’ Shilpa Shetty as daring cop; trailer unveiled (strangely) on ‘Lady Singham’s’ birthday!

Action ‘showman’ Rohit Shetty returns with a big-bang shoot-out (on and off-camera) this time on the OTT arena with his mega-filmy-scale action thriller ‘The Police Force’ (‘IPF’) on Amazon Prime Video ( starts from January 19th,) as evident in the gripping trailer just released The ‘arresting’  action-packed OTT drama series stars Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Vivek Oberoi, Shweta Tiwari, Nikitin Dheer, Rituraj Singh, Mukesh Rishi, Vibhuuti Thakur and Lalit Parimoo in important roles “Indian Police Force (“heartfelt tribute to our police”) will stream in India and across 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Enthuses Rohit Shetty the master-mind behind the action-packed police show “Although our ‘Indian Police Force’ show extravagant gripping content of seven episodes is on OTT Amazon Prime Video (helmed by Aparna Purohit and Sushant Shreeram) is made with full filmy grandeur and is very realistic and highly relatable. Even the risky action-stunt-fight scenes are being performed by the actors themselves,” shares the macho Shetty.  Validating his claims, Rohit reveals, “During an action sequence, the dedicated actor Shilpa even fractured her leg and she was at home for three months.”

Adding to what Rohit disclosed the outspoken Shilpa mentioned that while she “had often done action sequences before, this involved a ‘major fall’ for her. My go-ahead for ‘IPF’ was when I heard the character was called Tara Shetty and then it’s written so beautifully. We have given an arm (pointing towards Rohit’s hand-fingers injury whilst shooting) and my leg.

Interestingly, while Deepika Padukone has been finalized to play tough top-cop Lady Singham (Shakti Shetty) in ‘Rohit’s upcoming multi-starrer movie ‘Singham Again’, out here in this digital OTT venture, Shilpa is cast as Tara Shetty, as of now technically, the ‘first female cop’ in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe.

At the trailer launch event, the jovial Shilpa Shetty was called the “first female cop in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe.” To this, Shilpa jokingly reacted “What? Sir, have you heard?” Rohit also added to their live ‘stand-up on-stage comedy’ when he said, “Aaj doosri ka birthday hai na? Happy Birthday Deepika.” (Jan 5th).

Asked what made her ‘encounter’ this riveting tough-cop role, the witty ‘yogini’ Shilpa Shetty responded “Why wouldn’t one accept a role in ‘IPF’ like this? Actually, I describe Tara Shetty as a ‘shero’. There are heroes and there are heroines. This one’s a ‘shero’. She is gritty, she’s badass, she’s compassionate and she’s selfless in her line of work. It’s all the qualities of someone who’s put on a pedestal. And she’s unmarried (smiles)…. and she’s a Shetty. So, I just think it all just came together for me. For me to be able to play a top cop in his cop universe is nothing but a compliment. Rohit-Sir and I were supposed to work a long time ago, but I am happy that it started off with this impactful part,” the tall, svelte ‘Baazigar’ actress added.

Created and directed by Rohit Shetty and talented team-mate Sushwanth Prakash, the cop action-drama marks Shetty’s digital directorial debut in a spectacular breath-taking OTT opus, that will possibly also help erase public memories of his previous disappointing filmy comedy outing ‘Cirkus’ (2022).

The ‘IPF’ trailer takes viewers on a nail-biting ride with amazing aerial and chase shots through various cityscapes, studded with high-jump cars exploding and crashing. Each frame heightening the suspense with a ticking bomb clock that ultimately culminates in explosive bomb blasts by alleged terrorists.

Sharing his thoughts on the trailer launch debonair Sidharth Malhotra said, “I have always loved playing real-life heroes on screen as in bio-pic ‘Shershaah’ (2021) Proud to don the Khaki vardi in the ‘Indian Police Force,’ the next chapter of the cop universe with maestro Rohit Shetty. Portraying our brave hearts is always a huge responsibility, and being able to do that through Kabir Malik’s character was an honour,” says Sidharth who is still remembered for his romantic lead role as in Karan Johar’s SOTY (2012) opposite Alia Bhatt.

“Indian Police Force is our sincere ode to the real-life brave, resilient real-heroes who stand tall against recurring threats to our country. It salutes the indomitable spirit of our police forces and will help eliminate public misconceptions of bad cops, alleged bribes, and cops often arriving late on scene-of-crime as depicted on-screen in most movies,” added Vivek Oberoi. Working with Rohit-Sir in his cop universe has been an unforgettable experience, especially the action-packed ‘physical massage’ while doing the frequent utthak-baithak strenuous action scenes. We had all become so emotionally attached like an extended family that I actually faced ‘withdrawal symptoms’ after the wrap-up,” disclosed versatile Vivek.
