She is a pan-India actress that everyone feels is their own. The Telugu-speaking svelte beauty Sobhita Dhulipala made her Bollywood debut with the film Raman Raghav 2.0, but truly made her mark in the Hindi sector with her lead act in Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s web series Made in Heaven. She held her own against seasoned actors in the series, including the other remarkable lead Arjun Mathur.

After a few movies in Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam, Sobhita was seen in two important films of 2022 – Mani Ratnam’s mega ensemble cast film Ponniyin Selvan (PS 1) and Adivi Sesh’s Major. As she gears up for PS2, Sobhita is all set to surprise fans with her layered character in Disney Plus Hotstar’s The Night Manager. The web series is an official remake of the original of the same name, and the Indian / Hindi adaptation stars Anil Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead along with Sobhita.

From what the makers said about Sobhita at the trailer launch of The Night Manager, it seems she is going to win some acclaim for it. A glimpse of the trailer surely reveals a different side of the gorgeous beauty as an actress.

The former Miss India pageant winner also received praise from her co-star and veteran actor Anil Kapoor for her act in The Night Manager. He said, “When we talk about Sobhita, we talk about glamour and what a great body she has – that’s the first impression you get. She is so pretty, what eyes, what cinematic features she has. But when Sandeep Modi (co-director, The Night Manager) told me that Sobhita is on board, I was like, she’s terrific. But to get someone who is a thinking actress also, besides being so beautiful and having such a God-given presence. It comes from God and from your parents, and then you don’t take it for granted. You want to do your best. She was wonderful.”

“Although my career has started off with slightly more arthouse cinema – my first film is Raman Raghav with Anurag Kashyap – from that point on the larger recognition came to me through an OTT show Made in Heaven. So I do credit the OTT platform for giving me the kind of exposure I hadn’t had before. Although as an actor my job and my role remains the same, no matter what the medium is, it is nice to hear that I’m a ‘mainstream actor’,” said Sobhita of her second OTT offering.

Charming beauty

One could not help but notice the silent and confident charm of Sobhita, as she sat quietly on the dais with the male cast and crew. (The only other female to join later would be The Night Manager’s co-director Priyanka Ghose.) Sobhita looked fresh and ravishing in her colourful outfit, purple eye-makeup and red shoes. Her summer dress was apt for the location, the beach town of Alibaug near Mumbai.

As we complimented her on her dress, Sobhita made confident strides toward the photo booth while saying her thank yous. But still a little under-confident, as if she is still finding her way in the industry, finding her feet.

We don’t know if she is inherently like that or it’s a female thing to naturally appear like this, whatever it is, Sobhita Dhulipala is on her way to charm herself into your heart! If she hasn’t already.
