Director Colonel Raj Kapoor who gave Shah Rukh Khan his acting break through his television show Fauji passed away today. Kapoor died on Wednesday night in a hospital in the city. The director passed away due to age related issues. Below are all the details you would want to know.

While talking to a news agency, Kapoor’s daughter Ritambara said “My father died at 10:10 pm yesterday. He was in a hospital for some time, but his death was very sudden. He was otherwise in good health. He went quite peacefully.” The director was an ex-Army officer and also an author. After retiring from Army, Colonel became a disciple of Osho. Later, he moved to Mumbai to work in films and he produced many serials as well as acted in many feature films and advertisements. He was also the man who introduced King Khan to the world. Shah Rukh made his debut with Kapoor’s serial Fauji in which he played an army man. Kapoor had written an essay about Shah Rukh in a book written by Samar Khan titled 25 Years of a Life. He shared his thoughts about SRK.

In his essay he wrote, “I have been an actor, I’ve fought three wars, but all that anybody seems to remember is that I launched Shah Rukh 20 years ago. It amuses me to think that I am given credit for something I played no part in. Shah Rukh’s parents made him, I didn’t. I didn’t make a superstar; I simply chose the right man for a job I had. What happened before or after that in his life has nothing to do with me.” Colonel was cremated on Thursday. May Colonel Raj Kapoor’s soul rest in peace, team CineBlitz offers their condolences to the family.
