Tamil director Bharathiraja to be honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award at Singapore South Asian International Film Festival

The 3rd Singapore South Asian International Film Festival will be honouring Tamil director Bharathiraja with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The veteran director has defined a time in Tamil cinema and also has six National Awards to his credit.
A man who began his career in 1977, Bharathiraja has inspired a lot of young filmmakers with his early path-breaking film 16 Vayathinile.Talking about Bharathiraja being honoured at the festival, Abhayanand Singh, Chairman, Sg.SAIFF, said, “With such distinguished film personalities as part of the jury, we are happy that they chose a hugely respected filmmaker P Bharathiraja to confer the Lifetime Achievement Award on. We are committed to ensure that the quality of films and experience at Sg.SAIFF only elevate with each passing year.” The festival will have a jury panel headed by writer-director Roger Garcia, and will include Indian actress-cinematographer- director Suhasini Maniratnam, filmmaker and DOP Rajiv Menon, Pakistani director Sabiha Sumar, Iranian director Rasoul Sadr Ameli, and Sri Lankan actress Yashoda Wimaladharma.
