Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Thackeray is one of the most-awaited biopics of the year. A film about legendary Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray will surely be a treat to watch. However, looks like the director of Thackeray, Abhijit Panse, is not so happy. After being completely sidelined during the promotions, Abhijit was keen to watch the movie! So when a special screening was held last evening (January 24), Panse along with his family were invited. He reached a bit late, but the premier was started even before he arrived. In fact, no seats were kept for him either! This made him angry and he left the venue immediately.
We got in touch with Abhijit Panse about walking out of the Thackeray screening in anger! Abhijit told us exclusively, “It is very personal. I want the film to release, we will talk about this later. When the time is right, I will speak up.” On the call with us, he seemed unhappy. But he was excited for the film’s release. As he added, “I’ve worked on this movie for two years. Showing Balasaheb Thackeray’s whole life in two hours is impossible, but I’ve attempted it and I hope everyone likes it. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has done a fabulous job.”
While producer Sanjay Raut has denied Abhijit Panse being angry, the director’s reaction to us seemed different. In fact, after this whole issue broke out, a war of words has started between Shiv Sena (backing the film) and MNS (Mahrashtra Navnirman Sena, the party who Panse reportedly supports). Anyway, what do you guys have to say about this whole controversy? Share with us your thoughts in the comments section below!
