Amitabh Bachchan reveals ‘star of the millennium’ title was a mistake- read details

It goes back to the year 1999 when Amitabh Bachchan was given the title of ‘Star of the Millennium’ by BBC. At the time, BBC news did an online survey and one of the questions they asked as part of the survey was ‘Which actor is the most popular one in the last 100 years’. After this survey was done they came to the conclusion that veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan be given the title ‘Star of the Millennium’ as the votes were in his favour. Sr Bachchan debuted in Bollywood with the film Saat Hindustani in the year 1969. And for the past 50 years, several generations of Indians have considered him as the most popular
actor and the biggest influencer across the country. Bachchan started out in the movie business with his angry young man roles, rapidly making him the voice of a generation. However, Big B has now voiced his opinion that he won the poll because of a mistake!

Even though he is one of the most respected and loved actors in B’town. he himself believes that the title was won by him because of a computer error! He revealed that it was his co-actor Govind Namdev who told him that he had won the title. He didn’t believe it then, and continues to feel he doesn’t deserve such tags. The senior actor said, “Because of that online survey thing, some votes came my way and I feel it’s a computer error and there is no truth behind it.” Adding further he said, “I feel so embarrassed when people label me with these tags. I am an ordinary artiste and people who are sharing this platform with me are great as today I am so inspired by their thoughts.”

The platform he referred to was the book launch of actor and author Govind Namdev’s Madhukar Shah Bundela. Sharing the dias with him were actors Satish Kaushik, Chandraprakash Dwivedi and Govind Namdev himself. The actor turned author and superstar Amitabh Bachchan have worked together in Sarkar Raj. Talking about Govind Namdev, Bachchan revealed, “The first time, he met me was on a film set where he was playing a negative role. Apart from being a great artiste, he is fond of his nation, his native Bundelkhand and writing.”
