Game of Thrones season 8’s episode 5 left most of us shocked. Several major characters have died, Kings Landing is devastated, but what was most heart-breaking was to see Dany letting down her image of the saviour. Yes, Dany has turned into the Mad Queen and we even saw her allies turning against her. Now post that, some interesting theories are doing rounds. The most common one being that Jon might kill Dany and take the Iron Throne. However, some fans feel it will be Arya who will finally sit on the Iron Throne. Either way, fans are confident that Dany will die.

In case, you missed out on the latest episode, Daenerys is turning insecure of Jon Snow, remember the ‘love and fear’ conversation? Also, we saw how Jon asked his Northern men to retreat back when he saw Dany go wild with dragon fire. In the end, we even saw Arya riding back on a white horse (many are drawing parallels of this shot as an ode to Lord Of The Rings), and as it signifies the warrior riding back, there are high chances that Arya might kill Daenerys in the end.

One thing is most certain, the Starks will rule, but which of the Starks are likely to do so… Let’s find out!

Jon Snow

Well, Jon Snow aka Aegon Targaryen is the true heir and while he is half-Stark and half-Targaryen, his claim to the throne is the strongest. However, throughout the seasons, Jon has maintained that he isn’t interested in ruling, now we will have to see if he sits there to rule only if his people insist.

Here’s why Jon has chances of being the King of the Seven Kingdoms:

He has shown amazing leadership qualities in the past and managed to win people’s love. Jon has been very headstrong throughout, and he managed to get the wildlings past the wall and also fight by them. Remember, Jon took back Winterfell from the Boltons and also convinced Dany to fight the dead alongside him. Well, he surely has the capacity to get people to his terms. Lastly, his parentage makes his claim the strongest to the throne.

Why Jon might not claim the Iron Throne:

If you remember last season, Cersei said that Ned Stark’s son would stay true to his promise and Jon has been told several times that his honour and honesty might get him killed. Well, going by the honour principle, Jon has bent the knee to Dany, so it would make him a traitor if he claims the throne. Also, he promised Dany (the woman he loves) that he doesn’t want to rule. And this is why many predict that Jon will ask one of his sisters to take over the Iron Throne.

Arya Stark

The way Arya’s character has grown in the show is amazing. We all know she was a rebel right from season one, but the way she avenged her loved ones only made us admire her. In fact, her heroic stature grew stronger this season after she killed the Night King and ended the Great War. Now if Jon rejects the throne, people of Westeros might want to see Arya sit there.

Here’s why Arya has chances of being the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms:

Through the 8 seasons we have seen how from the male-dominated monarchy, women have taken charge of the rule. And while that flavour is still maintained, the way Arya has grown; she would be a great Queen, wouldn’t she? She has the ability to change faces, she killed the most dreaded enemy of the realm and now some say that she will change her face and kill Dany too. If that happens then her claim to the throne would also be quite strong.

Why Arya might not get to claim the Iron Throne:

Considering, the throne has a right heir – Jon – even though Arya would want to rule she might not be able to. Also, like Jon, Arya also is not interested to be bound by a seat ruling. She has been a globetrotter, so her strengths are out there. With Sansa being elder in the line of succession Arya might have to give the ruling seat to her.

Sansa Stark

Sansa has been an underdog in the series. Yes, from a silly girl to a strong woman Sansa surely did not have a pleasant transition. But she learnt the game of thrones slowly and we saw in the last episode how she managed to manipulate Tyrion. Now that she has become the Lady of Winterfell, and pretty happy with ruling, it wouldn’t be shocking to see her take charge.

Here’s why Sansa has chances of being the Queen of Seven Kingdoms:

Well, we saw during the Great War that Sansa has grown fond of Tyrion and while both Jaime and Cersei are dead, Tyrion might get to claim the throne (as he is the only Lannister left to save people from the usurper Daenerys Targaryen). However, as ‘the dwarf’ might not be approved by many, his wife Sansa might get to rule in his stead. Or even Jon and Arya might want Bran to take over Winterfell and give the Kings Landing rule to Sansa.

Why Sansa might not get to claim the Iron Throne:

We all know why… Sansa has not been as strong as Jon or Arya. In fact, she has not even proved her leadership qualities, but her talent to forge alliances can come in handy to rule the Seven Kingdoms.

Vote now:

There is also, a generic theory that states Democracy might be established in Westeros. Also, let’s not forget Gendry (Robert Baratheon’s bastard) is still alive and legitimised by Dany. So, he can end up ruling too… Let us know how you feel will Game of Thrones end? Comment below and wait till we get to see the Finale on May 20, 2019. Stay tuned to CineBlitz for more updates.
