Has Vicky Kaushal backed out of Saare Jahan Se Accha?

Producers Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala’s ambitious project Saare Jahan Se Accha seems to have suffered yet another setback even before it could go on the floors. The film which is a biopic of India’s first astronaut in space, Rakesh Sharma has been in pre-production for more than a year now. The film that had been tossed from Aamir Khan to Shah Rukh Khan and then among many other names including Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Rajkummar Rao, had finally landed in Vicky Kaushal’s lap. But apparently the film is once again in for a long delay as Vicky may not go ahead with the film.

Yes, according to the latest buzz, Vicky Kaushal is apparently now not doing Saare Jahan Se Accha, as the actor doesn’t want to get trapped in the patriotic label! Post Uri: The Surgical Strike, and now with Sardar Udham Singh biopic, and then the historical Takht, the actor may be tiring out of playing real characters. And with the leading man not confirmed, the film – that almost seems jinxed when it comes to the casting – may be put on hold indefinitely this time.

Well, while biopics continue to reign in Bollywood, this space-based biopic seems to be one that the makers can’t seem to get around with. What do you have to say about this development?
