The second round of verbal attack has started between Kangana Ranaut and Alia Bhatt. Reports from other publications have revealed that Kangana Ranaut is still not happy with Alia Bhatt and has launched another attack on the Raazi actress by calling her performance in Gully Boy as mediocre. Back when Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi released, Kangana was extremely disappointed by the lack of support from industry peeps and had named a few colleagues, especially Alia. She called her out publicly for skipping the special screening of her big directorial debut. Kangana, on the other hand, had extended her support by attending screenings of Alia’s films, when invited. This really touched a nerve with Kangana and she has been vocal about it. Kangana also took the cold war between them a step forward when she called out Alia’s beau, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia for not using their stardom and voicing their beliefs or opinions during the Pulwama attacks She called them apolitical.

Fast-forward to today, looks like Kangana hasn’t forgotten the earlier clash and lashed out again to a media outlet. In true Kangana-style, she exclusively told the publication that she shouldn’t be compared to Alia based on performance, attributing Alia’s Gully Boy character to Bollywood’s same-old portrayal of a fiery modern independent girl. She also stated that mediocre work shouldn’t be over-exaggerated, nor overappreciated, and star kids shouldn’t be pampered anymore.

Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy premiered at the prestigious Berlin Film Festival and received a standing ovation. Every aspect of the film, including Alia’s performance, received accolades from critics across borders and platforms. Manikarnika, on the other hand, received a mixed response from critics regarding script, screenplay and the lack of more centered and strong characters.
