Aamir Khan is one of the most influential stars in the film industry today and through his career of three decades, he has evolved as an actor with each passing year. From his debut as an eight-year-old in Yaadon Ki Baarat (1973) to one of his most beloved sports film Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001) to his 2017 release Secret Superstar, Khan has proven his mettle and his worth, not just as an actor but also as a filmmaker. His own production house has over the years delivered some huge hits. On his birthday, we list down 5 of his productions that are a must-watch:

Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001) – This epic historical sports drama won one too many accolades and garnered a lot of praise and adulation. It also received a nomination at the Academy Awards in the best foreign language category, becoming the third Indian film to achieve the honour. What we love about this film is the combination of sports with political intrigue, romance with an evil scheming and of course the music tracks. All in all, Lagaan is the perfect film to watch as a source of inspiration.

Taare Zameen Par (2007) – This one should definitely be on your binge list because TZM is not only fascinating but it’s high on emotions and very informative too. With this film, Khan educated one and all about dyslexia which is a learning disorder. The film revolves around an 8-year-old boy named Ishaan, played by Darsheel Safary, and how he overcomes the learning disorder with the help of a teacher. Not only Khan has produced this masterpiece but he also made his directorial debut with Taare Zameen Par.

Dangal (2016) – This biographical sports drama is one of the biggest hits of all time. The movie is loosely based on the lives of Indian woman wrestlers – Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari. The film is fuelled with passion and has some fabulous performances to offer. Without a doubt, Dangal is a must watch for those who need to get through rough waters.

Talaash (2012) – This one is a suspense thriller that will keep you hooked to the screens till the very end. The plot revolves around a bizarre high-profile death of a movie star named Armaan Kapoor (Vivaan Bhatena). Aamir Khan (Surjan Singh Shekhawat) is the cop in charge of the case. The clues lead him to Mumbai’s red-light area where he jostles between pimps and prostitutes, looking for answers. If you love watching mystery/suspense movies then Talaash is the definitely for you.

Secret Superstar (2017) – This musical drama is about a 15-year-old Muslim girl who dreams of becoming a successful singer but faces opposition from her conservative father. That’s when she decided to let her talent out through social media. After a lot of rebel and struggle, the girl finally fulfils her dream. While Khan played a small cameo in the film, Secret Superstar totally belongs to the two female protagonists – Zaira Wasim and Meher Vij. At its heart, Secret Superstar also explores the mother-daughter relationship which is very endearing to see. So do watch this film but with your mother!

These are our 5 favourites produced by Aamir and it is all worth a watch. Once again we wish the star a happy birthday and we also await as to what he has to bring to the table. Keep reading CineBlitz.
