We had informed you earlier that actress Urmila Matondkar will be making her political debut by contesting in the Lok Sabha elections 2019, but the confirmation was awaited. Today the Congress party through which Urmila will be contesting, announced her entry to the party and the Election Committee has also issued a notice of approval regarding Urmila contesting the elections.
Urmila will be contesting the 2019 general elections with a Congress ticket. Yesterday, we were the first to inform you that the actress had been seen at Delhi airport with Congress member Sanjay Nirupam. Later in the day, she met Rahul Gandhi which itself came as a confirmation of her being a new entrant. The beautiful actress will be contesting for the Mumbai North seat. The trivia is that this is the same seat which actor Govinda had contested elections for in the year 2004, and won. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has issued a letter about Urmila, which states that the EC has approved the candidature of Urmila as the Congress candidate contesting from the 26- Mumbai North Parliamentary Constituency of Maharashtra. The actress, who is all set to enter the corridors of politics said, “I thank Mr. Rahul Gandhi for making me the candidate from the Mumbai North constituency. I am venturing into politics to work for the citizens, and need everyone’s blessing for the same.”
The elections will begin on April 11 and will be conducted in seven phases till May 19. The results will be declared on May 23. With many members of the film fraternity contesting the elections and the many debuts here, this election is turning out to be quite eventful.
