Kangana Ranaut has always been in the news for unabashed and bold comments. Be it taking a dig at an actor or putting out an unapologetic opinion, the Manikarnika actress has never believed in mincing her words. She recently graced a talk show with a leading publication, and candidly spoke about her journey, and her choice of cinema. She made an interesting revelation about Padmaavat on why she couldn’t do the film.
During the chat, it was mentioned about how two big movie moments in her life, Black (2005) and Devdas (2002) involved Sanjay Leela Bhansali and if she had met him since then. The Mental Hai Kya actress revealed, “Oh, yes. In fact, we had a brief meeting for Padmaavat (2018). He narrated me the script.” After this, everyone obviously wanted to know why she did not take up that role to which she replied, “Yes. There was this conversation and I was doing Manikarnika then, so it didn’t go anywhere. But we had a brief narration. Before that as well, he wanted me to do the Ram-Leela song. He is a filmmaker who can leave strong impressions on you, especially if you are a fresh mind.” Well, imagine Kangana grooving to a RamLeela song or playing the role of queen Padmavati. But regardless, the films did well and the actors in the film got a lot of appreciation for their performances.
On the work front, Kangana will be seen next in Ekta Kapoor’s Mental Hai Kya for which she is finishing the patchwork. She is also a part of Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Panga alongside Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta and Richa Chadha. Kangana even announced her south project, the Jayalalithaa biopic on her birthday (March 23), the shoot of which will start by September this year.
