Tanushree Dutta to release her controversial short film Inspiration on International Women’s Day

Tanushree Dutta is a former model-turned-actress but now she is known as the whistle-blower of the #MeToo movement in India that shook the foundation of Hindi film industry in October last year. The actress, who was in States for a few years, came down to India last year to spend some quality time with her family.  Back then who knew her casual holiday would turn into a monumental movement that too with Tanushree in the center of it all.  She unknowingly opened the floodgates for the #MeToo movement in India when she recalled her traumatic experience of sexual harassment which was done by her co-star Nana Patekar. Though the actress had earlier spoken about it, sadly no one believed her. But the tables have turned since then.

And now the 34-year-old is all set to release a short film which also talks about sexual harassment. Dutta’s film, which is titled Inspiration, will be released online on March 8 which is International Women’s Day. Talking about the movie, the actress revealed that it’s about the “willful exploitation of young newcomers in showbiz.” When asked if this was a documentary or non-fiction, Dutta simply said that its reality-meets-fiction sort of a format. According to reports, in the movie, Tanushree will be seen playing the role of a guardian angel that mentors and encourages young, vulnerable girls to make the right decision.

With Inspiration, Dutta is making her comeback after 9 long years. Apart from acting, she has also contributed to writing dialogues for the short film. Tanushree, who had suddenly disappeared from the limelight after the whole sexual harassment episode, had worked in many Bollywood film including Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Chocolate, and Good Boy Bad Boy.
