Veteran actor Dinyar Contractor passes away at 79
Known for his roles in Khiladi and Baadshah, the veteran actor was awarded Padma Shri this year

Veteran comedian and actor Dinyar Contractor breathed his last today (June 5) early morning. The actor known for his comic roles in Bollywood and television had even received the Padmi Shri this year. The actor passed away at the age of 79. Contractor had been suffering from various age-related illnesses. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Textile Minister Smriti Irani also took their social media handles to offer their condolences to the actor’s bereaved family.
Dinyar Contractor’s contribution to the Indian cinema was immense. The actor began acting in school and professionally started working in the year 1966. Known for his parts in films like Baadshah, Khiladi and many more, the actor was last seen in TV serials likeKhichdi and Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma. He was a known face in the theater world as well. He will be cremated today afternoon. PM Modi has offered his condolence to the family and wrote, “Padma Shri Dinyar Contractor was special because he spread lots of happiness. His versatile acting brought smiles on several faces. Be it theatre, television or films, he excelled across all mediums. Saddened by his demise. My thoughts are with his family and admirers.”
