Emraan Hashmi and Shreya Dhanwantry’s Why Cheat India is all set to hit the screens this Friday (January 18). But before the film hits the screens, it has faced a lot of ups and downs. Why Cheat India was initially slated to release on the Republic Day weekend (January 25). However, with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and Thackeray releasing on the same day, the makers were in a fix. They decided to prepone the film by a week to get an open release, but reports are doing the rounds that Why Cheat India was preponed due to the pressure and threats by the makers of Thackeray and the members of Shiv Sena. To clear this speculation, we asked Emraan about this upfront and he made a really valid point.

In an exclusive interaction with us, Emraan revealed, “There was no pressure at all. It (the decision) was very amicable and you could see, we were sitting on the same dais, while we were having the press conference. They were gracious enough to take the Marathi release ahead and we got a clear week. We preponed because ours is a kind of experimental film, we’ve never dealt with such a subject before, so it was always a film that would start off slow and then grow. With an action film, it ticks all the boxes, but here, we are coming in with a new subject, so we needed that breathing space.”

Emraan was also concerned whether people know that Why Cheat India is coming out January 18. To know that he did a survey kind of interaction with people at the airport and the result was shocking. Check out our exclusive video above to know what Emraan Hashmi found out! Also stay tuned to Cine Blitz as we get you all the updates about Why Cheat India right here.
