Onlookers were in for a shock recently, when they saw the Chandan theatre in Juhu get an overnight makeover. The old theatre was being transformed into Delight Cinema, probably fashioned after Delhi’s famous Delite cinema hall of the 70s era and it was only after a while that it sunk in that the theatre was being recreated for an upcoming film shoot. And buzz is that the theatre underwent the makeover for Salman Khan’s Bharat. In fact, the makeover was given very late in the night to avoid crowds gathering around. Although, the transformation did not go unnoticed and soon also found its way to the social media, with speculations galore.
An onlooker tells us, “The theatre was given a complete feel of the 70s theatre and the film’s poster was changed to the 70s hit film Julie, so there was no mistaking which era was being tried to recreate. They renamed the theatre as Delight cinema. They were very quiet about the whole transformation and they did a good job too. We were taken aback to see the theatre first after the transformation.” According to sources, the set is part of Salman Khan’s film Bharat that spans his journey from India’s independence uptil now.
