Mukesh Ambani’s Jio won a major battle today. The Digital Communications Commission (DCC), the Department of Telecom’s highest decision-making body, ruled in favour of the company. It also approved a penalty of Rs 3050 crore that is to be paid by Vodafone Idea and Airtel. Why? As per reports, the two telecom giants, Vodafone Idea and Airtel, had failed to comply with the interconnection agreement with Reliance Jio. Due to this, Jio users were unable to make calls to people with Vodafone Idea or Airtel networks. That led to a massive loss and Jio filed a complaint.

In June itself, The Digital Communications Commission had imposed a penalty on Vodafone Idea and Airtel, according to reports. However, it had asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to review its decision. in fact, he Commission also asked for an approval for the penalty amount of Rs 3050 crore to be given to Jio. After TRAI gave its go ahead, the DCC announced the verdict on July 25. And eve though all looks fine, the judgement has now gone to the Department of Telecom. Post the final approval, Vodafone Idea and Airtel will have to pay the penalty to Jio, according to reports.

This is surely going to be a major win for Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio. What is your take on this development? Share with us your thoughts in the comments section below! Also stay tuned to CineBlitz for more Tech related stories right here.
