Yesterday (January 13), a female technician who worked with Rajkumar Hirani on the film Sanju, alleged that the filmmaker had sexually assaulted her on numerous occasions from March to September 2018. With that the #MeToo movement kickstarted again, and we got to know exactly why Raju Hirani’s name was dropped from friend, Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s next, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, as co-producer. While Rajkumar Hirani denied the rumours, friends and confidants were mum. However, Dia Mirza, who we have seen in numerous films by the director, has finally spoken up.
Dia expressed her shock, when she mentioned to a leading website, “I am deeply distressed by this news. As someone who has known and respected Raju Sir for 15 years, I can only hope that a due official inquiry is conducted.” She further added that she doesn’t have a lot of information about this, and hence, wouldn’t want to speak about it at length. Dia added, “He is one of the most decent human beings I have ever worked with, and I think it would be grossly unjust on my part to speak on this as I do not know the details.” What do you guys have to say about Dia’s reaction? In the meantime, as we mentioned, Rajkumar Hirani has denied all the allegations leveled against him. In an official statement, he mentioned, “I was completely shocked when these allegations were brought to my notice about two months back. I had suggested immediately that it is essential to take this matter to a committee or legal body. The complainant has chosen to go to the media instead. I want to very strongly state that this is a false, malicious and mischievous story being spread, with the sole intention of destroying my reputation.”
