Actor Arshad Warsi, in an exclusive conversation with Cine Blitz, reacted to the allegations against Rajkumar Hirani regarding the sexual assault of a technician on the film Sanju. Arshad has worked with Rajkumar in one of his most loved film Munna Bhai MBBS. In the conversation with Cine Blitz, Arshad said, “If you ask me what I think about him, he is a gentleman, and it is hard to believe something like this about him. I have known him for so many years and I have never seen a wrong bone in his body, which makes this news very shocking and difficult to believe.” He also added “I am no judge to jump to any conclusions, I don’t know the person or her credibility and the details. It could be true or may not be true, and we need to go into the details to get to any conclusion.”

Rajkumar Hirani has been called out by a woman who has worked with him on his 2018 release Sanju. In an article in HuffPost India, the woman alleged that Hirani sexually abused her between March to September 2018 more than once. She even reported this to the co-producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra in an email dated November 3, 2018. After the article had spread over the internet, Hirani gave out a statement saying that he was shocked when the claims were brought to his notice. “I was completely shocked when these allegations were bought to my notice about two months back. I had suggested immediately that it is essential to take this matter to any committee or a legal body. The complainant has chosen to go to the media instead. I want to very strongly state that this is a false, malicious and mischievous story being spread, with the sole intention of destroying my reputation,” Hirani said in his statement.

Earlier today, Dia Mirza also came out in Hirani’s support. In the wake of the #MeToo movement, directors Sajid Khan, Vikas Bahl, actor Nana Patekar and music composer Anu Malik had to face the backlash of the movement and had to back out or were ousted from their respective projects. Rajkumar Hirani seems to be in the same boat, since Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s upcoming film Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga does not carry Raju Hirani’s name as co-producer any longer.
