We were shocked to hear today (January 26) morning that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is all set to initiate legal action against Sonu Sood. The civic body is alleging that the is running a residential hotel in Juhu, without getting any clearance from them. However, the actor has denied all these allegations and revealed to us exclusively that he is “following all the protocols and laws.” What is happening to him is sheer harassment, even while the regularisation of his residential hotel in Shiv Sagar building is under process.

As per reports in a leading tabloid, BMC officials had alleged that the actor had not complied with all the norms to operate a residential hotel in Shiv Sagar. However, Sonu exclusively revealed to us that he has all the relevant documents and the regularisation proposal is already under process. Speaking to Cine Blitz he said, “A miscellaneous proposal for regularisation of restaurant is submitted to the building proposal Bandra West MCGM under section 342. CFO NOC has been approved by the Chief Fire Officer for the said subject matter. All relevant documents required for approval of the proposal have been submitted and the proposal for regularisation is under scrutiny with the competent authority.”

Sonu even revealed that he has the necessary fire compliance and the remaining documents required by the BMC that will be submitted by his architect shortly. In the meantime, he is following all the laws and doesn’t want to be harassed. He added, “I respect the law and BMC has been a great help always.. they in fact helped me clear huge debris dumping areas in Juhu too. So I totally respect them for that. We are not doing anything illegally. I have the fire compliance done, I also have the necessary shops and establishment licenses with me and the regularisation is already in process. There are few more documents that are demanded by BMC which will shortly be provided by my architect to the BMC, as it is an old building there is a lot of paperwork involved. I have been supporting the BMC and recently I also got the garbage cleared from a place which was made a dumping yard. I always follow due protocol and do things according to the rules.”

Interestingly, Sonu had sent a proposal to BMC’s K-West ward for converting the building into a residential hotel in 2018. However, it was returned by the BMC in September 2018 with a further demand of completing the required compliance with their norms. The proposal was rejected on technical grounds, but officials and activists suggest that the actor was running the boarding and lodging facility without permission.

The actor continues to maintain that the regularisation work is underway and he has all the necessary documents. He also says that he is following due process of the law and what is happening to him is sheer harassment! We just hope the issue is resolved at the earliest and no one is hassled. What do you guys have to say about the whole controversy? Share with us your thoughts in the comments section below!
