Kamal Haasan's call for plebiscite in Kashmir was misquoted during his answer following the Pulwama attack

One of our favourite veteran actors Kamal Haasan, has always leaned towards politics, and has recently shifted his focus on creating a powerful party. He launched the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) party on February 21 last year and made the official declaration in a state meeting in Madurai in Tamil Nadu. Haasan and his team have been working towards making it big since then. Well, you will be glad to know that his political party has been allotted a symbol. Kamal’s MNM will now be recognised by a battery torch, which will be used by the party as a symbol to contest elections. The official allotment was made by the Election Commission and was happily accepted by the Vishwaroopam actor.

Kamal took to this social media page and welcomed the development. He said that his party will make every possible attempt to become a ‘torch bearer’ in politics as he wrote, “MNM thanks the Election Commission for granting us the ‘Battery Torch’ symbol for the forthcoming elections. So appropriate. @maiamofficial will endeavour to be the ‘Torch-Bearer’ for a new era in TN and Indian politics.” Well, we wish the actor good luck for his new endeavours. Check out his post right here:

Kamal Haasan, who is referred to as ‘Ulaganayagan’ (world’s hero) also revealed the party flag which depicts six interlocking arms. This symbolises the unity between the five southern Indian states (Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana) and Union Territory of Puducherry. After Jayalalithaa, Karunanidhi, M G Ramachandran and more recently, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan has finally joined a long list of southern superstars who have taken a political leap into state history.
