Making biopics has been a popular choice for the filmmakers in recent years, but off late we are also seeing the biopics based on political figures getting in trouble for various reasons. After the EC banned the release of Narendra Modi biopic titled PM Narendra Modi and even made the makers pull down the trailers ahead of the elections, now yet another film is in trouble. The film Baghini which is a biopic on the life of the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has come under the Election Commitee’s scanner.

According to our sources, the trailer of the film has been barred from any release online as per the orders of the Election Committee. The chief electoral officer of West Bengal submitted a report stating that the film was yet to get a certification from the Central Board of Film Certification. The trailer was released on April 13 and has now been removed from at least three websites already.

Starring Ruma Chakraborty in the title role, the film was slated to be released on May 3, three days before the fifth phase of national elections in which Bengal also votes. Stay tuned to CineBlitz for more such updates and news.
