The #Metoo fire exposed many scary faces in the Hindi industry and the wave even reached beyond the border. Actor-singer Meesha Shafi accused Pakistani actor Ali Zafar of sexually harassing the actress and the news created a surge of shock amongst his fans. This happened back in April 2018 but no resolution has been made on the matter since. Zafar went on to file a defamation case and recently addressed the media outside the Lahore High Court asking the actress to resolve the matter and appear in the court.

Meesha, who could not make a public statement due to the court’s restrictions, had her legal team reply to Ali’s remarks. Nighat Dad, from Meesha’s legal team, shared an official statement regarding the harassment case. In the statement, the team discussed the many accusations that have been put on the actress by Zafar briefly, it read, “Ali Zafar, in an attempt to silence Meesha Shafi filed a defamation suit against her. However, the best defence to defamation is the truth and as Meesha Shafi has never spoken a false word against Ali Zafar, she cannot be held guilty for any defamation by any court.” Read the statement here:

LINK IN BIO: For one whole year I have been silent while facts were being distorted and me, my family and my supporters were being cyber bullied through fake accounts SHOCKINGLY being followed, endorsed and retweeted by Meesha’s own lawyer who claims to be an “internet rights activist” and “human rights lawyer”. Same fake accounts were printed in various credible publications to build a narrative against me. If there is anything more shamefully criminal, it’s this! I have filed a case against them too in the FIA. Enough is enough! This is my statement regarding my case against #MeeshaShafi. She should stop hiding behind fake accounts to fight her case and instead come to the court to face the truth. #FaceTheCourtMeeshaShafi Click on link in my bio for my video statement.
