Like every year 2022 had its own challenges and victories. Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai! producer Binaiferr Kohli shares her viewpoints. She also talks about her New Year plans and what more viewers can expect in 2023. “It’s been a very nice year. All’s well that ends well.  My plans are to do better than before, enjoy my life to the fullest, to take my work to new heights. I am a workaholic, my work gives me a lot of pleasure,” adds the Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai!

About her New Year celebration plans, Binaiferr says, “In the morning I will do rangoli outside my house and put a flower garland in the temple and for the entrance of my house. We will make halwa at home and have a relaxed day as we will have an off on the set. It will be a fresh and positive start to the year.”

TV does follow a trend, feels the producer. “I didn’t see any new trend this year but I saw the victory of the underdog as always. TV is a medium ruled by women. Film is a medium ruled by men. I don’t think it will change in 2023 but if you are talking about comedy then things will change. There will be newer problems related to the 20th century looking at moving towards the future. Content and projects keep on changing with the taste of the audience, so 2023 might be a witness to something new. Change and death are the two definite things in life. So, all have to stay prepared and be ready to tread newer horizons,” she explains.

With TV, films, OTT, South cinema, and Hollywood, the audiences are exposed to a wide variety of content. Personally, Binaiferr prefers to watch any content that interests her. “I like comedy and realistic content like biographies more,” she shares.

The general opinion is that there’s no fixed formula to make sure a story would connect with the audience. However, Binaiferr believes otherwise. “If you feel that in a soap your main track is about extra-marital affairs, then you go in the main track because that’s the base which major people come in to, watch it and all the other tracks are woven around it,” she adds.

Ask if she plans to expand the territory and work on something new that might be totally unlike you and Binaiferr answers, “Yes, I might. Sanjay [Kohli, producer and her husband] Ji also believes in trying new things. If you give him any new challenge he gets very excited to excel at it and so am I. Even if it’s a simple show, I am interested in it. I enjoy my work and don’t complain, rather I will concentrate on how to make it better. That keeps me on top of the game.”
