Ranveer Singh to play Sam Manekshaw in Meghna Gulzar film?

Meghna Gulzar is currently shooting the Deepika Padukone film Chhapaak which is based on the story of the acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. But even as the director is busy with the project at hand, she is already also locking in names for her next film. We have learnt that Meghna has approached Ranveer Singh for her next film based on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw was the Chief of the Army Staff (Indian Army) during the Indo-Pakistan War (1971). He was also the first Indian Army Officer to be promoted to the rank of the Field Marshall.

According to insiders, Meghna approached Ranveer and the actor has also shown much interest in the film. While based on the life of the Marshall, the film is however not a biopic say insiders and Meghna too is said to have worked on the script accordingly. A source says, “Ranveer is keen to work on the film and has already told his team to start working out the logistics. The fact that she is currently working with Deepika may have been an added factor for Ranveer to consider the filmmaker’s project.” Besides, Deepika however, Meghna has proven her mettle as a filmmaker, post the Alia Bhatt starrer Raazi, which was highly appreciated by the film fraternity as well as audience.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is currently prepping for his role as Kapil Dev for Kabir Khan’s 83, which will go on the floor soon. The actor most recently also played the role of a rapper with much aplomb in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy The film was said to be based on the life of hip-hop artistes Naezy and DIVINE and has gone on to become a highly-appreciated film.
