The film sets out to convey through a slice of film the pertinent message of improving the government system and fostering harmony and love between Bihar and Jharkhand. The film Kusum Ka Biyaah is inspired from a real story of a Bihari girl who marries a boy from Jharkhand and how they were stuck on the state border when the pandemic-induced lockdown was imposed. It’s an intriguing human story.

The plot revolves around the bridegroom Sunil’s marriage, which faces numerous challenges. Just as the family members are excited about the wedding, a nationwide lockdown is imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This results in the entire wedding party getting stuck at Sunil’s father-in-law’s place in Bihar, on a bamboo bridge which sets out to connect Bihar and Jharkhand.

Suvendu Raj Ghosh was with Kolkata police working in the crime branch and took voluntary retirement in 2016 and since then has been making films in Bengali and now in Hindi. He has directed four Hindi films, including Chase No Time to Crime (2019) and Before You Die (2022).
