Acclaimed-director Neil Marshall’s Hellboy is all set to open in theatres in a matter of days. And the fans are looking forward to the reboot of the dark fantasy thriller that revolves around the superhero Hellboy. Promising to be edgier and scarier from the previous installments of the hit franchise, Marshall’s Hellboy is creating much excitement among cinema-lovers. What has been getting much attention besides the being the scariest ever in the series, is the casting of the film. With David Harbour being the perfect Hellboy, it was crucial that the makers cast the perfect actor to play Hellboy’s adoptive father, the prickly Professor Trevor ‘Broom’ Bruttenholm.

And for it, the producers – Lawrence Gordon and Lloyd Levin – swung to the acclaimed Golden Globe-winning British actor Ian McShane, who is best known for his role as boomtown saloon owner Al Swearengen in the hit series Deadwood. In a career that spans more than five decades, McShane has appeared in hundreds of films and televisions episodes. Levin tells us exclusively, “Casting Ian McShane allowed us, with Mike Mignola’s (creator of Hellboy comic character) help, to approach Professor Broom with a bit more complexity than in the comic books.” The producer adds, “Ian added his own incredible presence: He’s vigorous and strong, sharp and humorous, and knows well what works for him. He and David had great chemistry, which gave them a lot to mine creatively.”

Hellboy also features Milla Jovovich as Nimue – the Blood Queen, Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimio and Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan amongst others from the sprawling Hellboy mythos. A Lawrence Gordon/Lloyd Levin production, PVR Pictures and MVP Entertainment will release Hellboy in India in Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu. Hellboy opens in theatres on April 12, and you know where to find him.
