Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashamah: Disha Vakani’s absence NOT affecting the show’s TRPs

Ever since 2017, Daya Jethalal Gada has been missing from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Yes, actress Disha Vakani who plays the popular character of Dayaben on the hit Sab TV show has been on maternity leave since September 2017. Disha was blessed with a baby girl in November 2017 and while everyone expected her to return to the small screen soon after, till date we haven’t seen Dayaben return to the Gokuldham society. Now going by certain reports, Disha’s long hiatus has forced the makers of the show to give her an ultimatum to return as soon as possible.

However, speculations are rife that Disha wants to quit the show. To get some clarity on the matter, we tried to reach the show’s producer Asit Kumar Modi. But he chose not to comment and disconnected our call. But he did ask us to get in touch with his spokesperson who said, “The reports of Disha quitting the show are untrue. Everything is false.” Talking about the possibility of Dayaben returning back to the show, the spokesperson further added, “Yes, very much. It is up to her.” When asked if Dayaben’s absence has affected the TRPs, the spokesperson simply said, “Not at all. You can go through the BARC data; we are still number one at the 8:30 time slot.”

While Disha is away, we have to admit that she was the most entertaining actor on the show and if not the TRPs, the entertainment quotient of the family drama has surely taken a hit. We have seen some other actors quite the show as well and it has only disappointed the fans further.
