National film awards

The National Film Awards are known to honour the best of the Indian cinema and the awards are conducted every year. They usually take place in New Delhi each year on May 3. But this time the prestigious awards have been postponed and the reason is for the good of the nation. Though the final dates haven’t been revealed yet, the National Film Awards have been postponed due to the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections.

As the 17th Lok Sabha Elections are currently underway, the awards have been pushed ahead to ensure that the power of media is not used in a way that will affect the general conduct and level playing field during the election process. And hence the winners of 66th National Film Awards will be declared only after the election process is over and the MCC (Model Code of Conduct) concludes.

The Lok Sabha elections began on April 11 and will be conducted in seven phases, out of which two are done. It will continue till May 19, and the results will be out on May 23. For more updates on this front, stay tuned to CineBlitz.
